CIO Advisory
Direction before delivery.
Who this is for
For Executive Committees where technology investment is decided, and for CIOs who need the case made in the language of the business.
VITA Technology Advisory strengthens technology strategy, governance and transformation priorities, ensuring decisions follow the business argument — not the other way around. This mission partners directly with Executive Committees and business leadership to set direction, build the investment case, and align technology with business value.
01
Mission Overview
Most IT strategies are not wrong — they are unarguable. They describe a destination without proving why the business should fund the journey, and they use a vocabulary the ExCo does not recognise. VITA Technology Advisory works on the strategy and the argument simultaneously, so the CIO arrives at the board with a case that survives challenge from the CFO.
02
Objectives
Each engagement is framed around a small number of decisions the organisation has been unable to close.
Establish the real baseline
An evidenced view of capability, cost, dependency and risk — not the version reported upward.
Make the investment case arguable
Translate technology spend into business outcomes the CFO and the operating units both recognise.
Resolve the operating model
Clarify who decides, who delivers, and who is accountable when the two disagree.
Sequence the portfolio
Order initiatives by dependency and capacity rather than by internal advocacy.
03
Approach & Deliverables
Short, evidence-led, and structured to leave the organisation with artefacts it can keep using after the engagement closes.
Diagnostic report
Capability, cost and risk baseline, with the evidence trail behind each judgement.
Target operating model
Decision rights, delivery accountability and demand governance, described concretely enough to implement.
Investment case
Business-outcome framing, options with trade-offs, and a recommended direction.
Portfolio roadmap
Sequenced initiatives with dependencies, capacity assumptions and decision points made explicit.
Executive narrative
The argument itself, in a form the CIO can present without translation.
Governance rhythm
The meeting cadence, metrics and escalation path needed to hold the direction.
